Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to support the Cardiology team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in booking patient appointments for the new Community Diagnostics Centre at Eltham Community Hospital (ECH) which is hosted by Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.
The post holder will provide a first class one-stop shop appointments service for elective care to : GPs, healthcare professionals, patients and their representatives. they will work within the cardiology team making appointments, arranging outpatient appointments and dealing with all correspondence.
Main duties of the job
As such the post holder will be part of a team that incorporates booking outpatient appointments and dealing with patient queries relating to diagnostic appointments on the hospital PAS (iCare) and Solus.
When booking the diagnostic appointments, a wide range of communication skills will be used in order to provide a patient centred booking service. The post holder will be sensitive to the needs of each individual, responding differently to a wide range of needs.
To ensure the smooth running of the Cardiology CDC bookings and provide an efficient service by ensuring that diagnostic appointments are dealt with in keeping with the Department of Health's guidelines concerning wait-times

- Administration of the Eltham CDC Cardiology appointments
- Managing and arranging patient appointment slots on hospital computerised records System (iCare) on a daily basis from electronic Referral Service (eRS), telephone and iCare out-patient requests.
- Retrieving patient results/reports on Solus when required.
- Dealing with telephone and walk-in enquiries
- Enter all patient details on iCare (on clinics/wait list).
- Maintain record keeping systems that comply with Trust guidelines and allow clinical audit to take place.
- Use of the iCare computer system as required.
- Follow trust procedures in all areas including Health and Safety, complaints procedure, Equal opportunities and all other relevant areas.
- Administrating referrals from electronic Referral Service and from in-hospital, appointing on iCare/Solus
- Using initiative to manage time during busy periods and to prioritise workload.
- Provides non-clinical advice to Out-Patients and medical staff.
- Answer telephone enquiries, dealing with recording and passing on messages appropriately.
- Arrange and co-ordinate meetings as required.
- Uploading of referral letters from ERS onto I-care
- Arranging porters for in/out-patients requiring testing.
