Job summary

We are looking for dynamic enthusiastic Band 5 nurses to work on the Acute Medical Unit - Chestnut Ward (46 beds) in University Hospital Lewisham. The area is a fast paced medical environment where you can gain a wealth of experience in acute medicine. We offer excellent opportunities and support for development. This unit is well supported by senior management team composed of the Head of Nursing, 2 matrons, and 2 ward managers on duty.

Main duties of the job

  • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidence-based nursing care for a group of
  • Assist in and contribute to the management and organisation of a ward/clinical area.
  • Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing
  • Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff
  • Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their
  • Act as a clinical and professional role model, mentoring, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining own and others health and safety
  • Move and handle patients and goods in ways that promote the health of the patient and care team and that are consistent with
  • Responsible for the maintenance of a clean and safe environment adhering to infection control policies procedures and best
  • Assist and maintain safe and hazard-free area of work.
