Job summary

The Department of Dermatology at Lewisham Hospital is seeking a full time senior clinical fellow for fixed term contract (12 months).

This post is an ideal opportunity for a suitably qualified individual looking to develop dermatology experience. It is ideal for someone who has MRCP and is seeking to gain dermatology experience whilst applying for a training post in dermatology. The position will allow the candidate to continue to meet their training and education objectives within their clinical responsibilities.

The post holder will run a range of clinics based at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) Clinics will include general adult and paediatric dermatology clinics, skin cancer clinics.

The post holder will gain also experience in acute ward referrals, ward rounds and MDM.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Responsibilities

To see patients under consultant supervision in clinics

To dictate and sign clinic letters and review results

To attend ward rounds with consultants

To undertake minor skin surgery under consultant supervision

To attend weekly MDM meetings and help with preparation of lists for MDM

To triage referral letters

To review inpatients on medical wards who have dermatological problems

To liaise and communicate with other medical and surgical units and other disciplines within the hospital

To liaise with patients' relatives

Medical Education and Training

To attend all training opportunities provided by the department. Opportunities will be available to plan and organise own continuing medical education within financial resources available

To participate in induction and regular appraisal, assessment and continuing professional development throughout the contract

To participate in the training of medical students

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • Full registration with the GMC and hold a License to Practice

Desirable

  • Post graduate experience in dermatology

Clinical Experience

  • Significant years (FT or equivalent) postgraduate training in the UK (or equivalent), i.e. completion of F1, F2 and ST1/2.

Desirable

  • IT Literate Relevant publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Evidence of participation in teaching and audit

Clinical Audit
