Job summary
The successful candidates will join an enthusiastic and motivated team, helping to support the future vision and development of the newly repatriated Urology Service.
This post will be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Woolwich but will work across site at University Lewisham Hospital. The trust post is for 12 months in the first instance, subject to renewal after that.
Main duties of the job
The service already has a successful urology outpatient facility. The role will provide inpatient and day case surgery, outpatient clinics including 2WW clinics and flexible cystoscopy and prostate template biopsy
These posts are an ideal opportunity for suitably qualified individuals looking to develop skills within a Urology department with a specialist interest in continence, prostate cancer, the management of BPH (PVP, bipolar TURP and Urolift) and Urinary Stone management.
The positions will allow the candidates to continue to meet their training and education objectives within their clinical responsibilities. The candidates will spend one day every week at Guy's Hospital to further develop special interest and participate in research projects. The on call rota is 1:6 with prospective cover.

There will be a major commitment to "core urology including outpatient clinics, main theatre and day surgery operating lists, flexible cystoscopy lists and trans-rectal prostate biopsy lists.Attendance at the weekly oncology MDT meeting, bi-monthly continence MDT is expected.On-callThe urologists work a 1:6 rota with prospective cover (Monday to Thursday and Friday to Sunday). The on-call duties cover in-patients in both sites and A & E in QEH site only (UHL A&E still covered by GSTT).TeachingThere is a regular morbidity and mortality meeting which all members of the department are expected to attend. The post-holder will be expected to participate in teaching of medical students, foundation doctors and core surgical and specialist trainees.AdministrationAn administrative session is part of the job plan and the post holder will have responsibilities to maintain good documentation and timely communication of discharge and treatment plans with colleagues in the community.

- Experience in Flexible Cystoscopy and prostate TRUS biopsy and inguinal-scrotal surgery.
- Able to demonstrate successful participation in audit.
