An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Information Directorate for a Band 8a Deputy Head of Information Systems on a 9 month Fixed Term Contract. You will work with the Head of Information Systems and Data Warehouse to support all aspects of the data administration and Data Warehouse function across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

You will use a wide range of applications and tools to facilitate your daily tasks, including Microsoft SQL Server 2019, Microsoft Visual Studio, VB.Net, and Microsoft Office products, as well as the IQVIA ETL application.

Job responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Strategy & Policy
  • Ensure the Data Warehouse and associated Information Systems are able to meet the data processing and data provision needed to support the Trust strategic objectives.
  • Supporting colleague to ensure that a robust and comprehensive Data Quality is in place across the whole organisation, based on current and as required new guidelines and national policy.
  • Work with colleagues with IT / EPR Team to develop a Data Extract strategy to support the move to a whole Trust EPR solution.
  1. Operational
  • Engage in the development and on-going maintenance of a Trust wide Data Warehouse solution, building on current provision whilst ensuring that the solution meets the Trust strategic direction.
  • Manage the Data Warehouse Developer to design, build and develop further automated processes for data extracts and data reporting.
  • Manage the on-going development and local support of the Data Warehouse solution.
  • Support the development of any processes necessary to convert legacy data into formats that meet the nationally and locally required formats to allow them to be loaded into the Data Warehouse solution.
  • Develop and manage the data production schedules with the Trust Business Intelligence teams to ensure that required deadlines are met.
  • Manage the on-going development and maintenance of required processes regarding the production of routine reports (automated), data storage requirements (volume and housekeeping) and data retrieval processes.
  • Ensure the required processes and policies are in place to support the operational management of the Data Warehouse and the staff managing it.
  • Working with the wider team to ensure that the data required for Commissioning purposes (CDS, SUS, other patient level datasets) is complete, submitted regularly in line with national and local timescales.
  • Ensure that Trusts data definitions are in line with the NHS Data Dictionary and Data Manual, that definitions are used consistently across areas and systems and that data is collected (and hence available for reporting purposes) in a timely manner.
  1. Financial and Physical Resources
  • Engage in the preparation of Business Cases as required to support projects of system developments.
  • Work within the Trusts Standing Financial Instructions at all time
  1. Workforce Management
  • Manage staff within the section according to Trust policy and procedures at all times
  • Manage any performance or sickness issues of staff in accordance with Trust policy and procedures.
  • Manage the recruitment of staff as enquired.
  • Ensure staff within the section meet KSF / PDR requirements, that all staff have a PDR in place setting out performance and delivery objectives that also meet the departmental and Trust objectives.
  1. Planning, Organisation and Development
  • Represent the Department / Trust at internal and external meetings as required.
  • Attend training and User Groups at external locations as required
  • Undertake appropriate professional development associated with the post.
