Job summary
The role of Clinical Nurse Specialist Health Adviser requires a high degree of personal professional autonomy and making clinical judgements. Taking sole and joint responsibility for the patient and procedure during diagnostic and therapeutic intervention procedures to ensure a successful patient-based outcome within the acute/community setting, which will require assessment, planning and implementation of treatment
Main duties of the job
- To lead on sexual health promotion and results management
- To provide support to the result co-coordinator at the Waldron Health Centre)
- To see clients diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections including HIV
- To provide health education, partner notification, provider referral health promotion and risk reduction
- To see clients in sexual health setting 1:1 work specifically work around risk reduction and behaviour change
- To facilitate recall of patients with untreated infections or those in need of follow up test of cure, by telephone or visit
- To give advice and guidance both to Consultants and other speciality professionals on interventional procedures and clinical practice

In line with the Trusts Annual Business Plan you will provide a high-quality advanced Clinical expert health adviser, cost-effective service to patients requiring sexual health care, supporting their needs in providing health education partner notification and risk reduction.
The Division aims to provide an environment conducive to the on-going development of all staff and advancements in the quality of the service by ensuring provision of a high standard of training, teaching and clinical care within the acute/community setting.

The role of Clinical Nurse Specialist Health Adviser requires a high degree of personal professional autonomy and making clinical judgements. Taking sole and joint responsibility for the patient and procedure during diagnostic and therapeutic interventional procedures to ensure a successful patient-based outcome within the acute/community setting, which will require assessment, planning and implementation of treatment.
To give advice and guidance both to Consultants and other speciality professionals on interventional procedures and clinical practice.
To be responsible for the nursing leadership within the specialty and giving support and guidance within the Multidisciplinary Team, contributing to the high-quality care given to patients, in accordance with clinical governance. The postholder will lead on the Health Adviser service ensuring high quality provision of the key services. They will lead on Partner Notification for the service in addition they will ensure results delivery and expansion of results management of the service through effective interdisciplinary care, utilising clinical and managerial expertise, which will include a review of the effectiveness of treatment, referral and follow up of patients.
Key Result Areas & Performance
All the following are to be carried out while working in close collaboration with members of the multi-disciplinary team led by a Consultant. To demonstrate clinical expertise within the speciality and work autonomously, managing own allocated clinics independently and seeking guidance/support when necessary.
- To lead on sexual health promotion and results management

- To develop and maintain effective communication with the Multidisciplinary Team
- To be competent in the management of under 16 years olds and vulnerable adults working withing the guidance and liaising with the Multi-disciplinary Team and child protection services as appropriate.
- To undertake training, NMP or work to PGDs in line with trust guidance and professional qualification
- Dispense, supply or prescribe medication for STIs (examples: doxycycline, ceftriaxone and vaccinations) as part of the patient pathway
- Dispense, supply or prescribe medication for HIV prevention (PEPSE/ PrEP)
- Dispense, supply or prescribe medication for contraception including emergency contraception
- To form effective working relationships with all colleagues within the Sexual Health and HIV services, Safeguarding services, Primary Care, Drug and Alcohol services, Third Sector, Outreach and Voluntary organisations
- Provide reports and regular audits of patient results testing in accordance to departmental and commissioner requirements
- To ensure all inbox results are at a safe level notifying the senior team and clinicians to help action in a timely manner

- To be involved in quality assurance initiatives within the clinic ensure that all actions are carried out within trust and department policy
