Job summary

This is a full-time post for a Consultant in Community Sexual and Reproductive Health to provide a lead role in contraception provision (to level 3 of the National Sexual Health Strategy), STI management (to level 2 of the National Sexual Health Strategy) as well as general clinical and managerial responsibilities in the department.Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust (LGT) is committed to ensuring thatcomprehensive sexual health and HIV care is provided for its residents through innovative ways of care provision. LGT has an innovative integrated Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) and Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) service in the community.The post holder will contribute to clinical, teaching, audit and research support for the department and management support for the medical staff and the department in general.The community Sexual and Reproductive Health Department is in the Directorate of Gynaecology, Sexual Health and HIV, which sits in the Women's, Children and Sexual Health (WC&SH) Division of LGT.

Main duties of the job

To lead and develop contraception, reproductive and sexual health.

  • Undertake expert clinical practice in the field of sexual and reproductive healthcare.
  • Provide clinical oversight of SRH within LGT
  • Undertake managerial and administrative roles as required, in consultation with the senior management team (Clinical Director, Head of Nursing).
  • Provide teaching to undergraduates, postgraduates, VTS trainees, nurses, and midwives together with other members of the medical staff.
  • Contribute actively to all aspects of the Trust's affairs
  • Manage directly or indirectly the medical staff including appraisals

  • MB BS or equivalent and full GMC registration
  • MFSRH (Membership of the Faculty of Sexual Reproductive Health care)
  • On GMC Specialist Register or Specialty Trainee within 6 months of CCT or has submitted a CESR application to the GMC
  • Current LoC IUT
  • Current LoC SD

Desirable

  • Post-graduate degree e.g. MD, PhD, MSc
  • Diploma GUM
  • MRCOG
  • LoC Med Ed or PGEA in Medical Education
