Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated, flexible and experienced radiographer / clinical technologist with training and experience in Nuclear Medicine to join our service (BSc. Diagnostic Radiology, BSc. Clinical Technology or equivalent). You will play a key clinical role within the leadership team and join a dedicated, multi-professional team who share one vision - we put our patients at the heart of the outstanding care we provide and we are looking for someone who shares our values.
As an experienced radiographer or clinical technologist with current HCPC/RCT registration you will provide leadership to our technical staff whilst ensuring full participation in the delivery of the clinical nuclear medicine service undertaking administration of radiopharmaceuticals for imaging.
Main duties of the job
You will ensure that our high standards of patient care are promoted and maintained at all times. You should have a good understanding of radiation protection measures and precautions required following diagnostic procedures and be able to communicate these sensitively and clearly to patients. You will be expected to use your knowledge, skills and experience to actively participate in service improvement programmes with clinical scientists and other healthcare professionals.
Currently at Lewisham Hospital we have a GE Discovery SPECT/CT camera and Xeleris and Hermes processing work stations.
In 2023 the nuclear Medicine service currently based at Lewisham Hospital will be relocatingtoQueen Elizabeth Hospital.
A new GE 870 CZT SPECT CT scanner has been purchased and will be operational from October 2023. Exciting times ahead!
The post offers the ideal opportunity to be involved in service development whilst maintaining expert clinical practice in your chosen field. The post holder will provide a focus for leadership and expert advanced radiographic care and the development of practice.
You will support the implementation of clinical service developments to improve patient outcomes. The new SPECT CT equipment to be installed in 2023 opens up many exciting opportunities.
About us
You will also be answering any queries from patients and other multi-disciplinary teams. Computer literacy is important and a working knowledge of Nuclear Medicine is essential. Minimum qualification is DCR (Diagnostic), or relevant HND or a BSc in a Science subject.
To apply for this post you should have at least five years previous experience in Nuclear Medicine imaging and processing, a NM Diploma or equivalent and IV cannulation certificate.
