Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 nurse to join our growing Paediatric Cardiology ward at the Evelina London Children's Hospital

Edward ward will be our new 28 bedded cardiology ward, providing care for children with congenital and aquired heart problems. Children come in for cardiac surgery, cardiac intervention, diagnostic procedures and for medical management which gives a wide range of skills and opportunities for our staff. The ward also has HDU beds within the footprint.

The team offers a dynamic environment to develop and broaden nursing skills while supporting children and families throughout their cardiac journey.

The Evelina Children's Paediatric Cardiology Service is a level one cardiac surgical centre and part of the Lifelong cardiology network. The post holder will work alongside the clinical educator to further develop nursing expertise, knowledge and leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide high-quality, family-centred nursing care to children undergoing a range of cardiac procedures and management on Edward ward. They will coordinate the daily running of the ward, support and supervise junior staff, and contribute to maintaining a safe and effective clinical environment. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, the Band 6 nurse will play a key role in patient flow, clinical decision-making and supporting children and families throughout their surgical pathway. The role also includes contributing to staff development, quality improvement and maintaining high standards of care.
