Are you a keen newly qualified midwife seeking your first position as a midwife? We have converted our maternity leave positions to enable newly qualified midwives who are yet to secure a role, the opportunity to join our team on a 6m fixed term contract. You will be supported to join the staff bank and we will commit to continuing to support you for a further 12m while you undertake bank shifts to allow you to complete your preceptorship flexibly during this period should you wish to.
The supported sign off is new for the Trust and should you be shortlisted further information about the programme will be available along with the requirements for sign off in this programme.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an assessment centre, you will be required to pass the practical element before progressing to interview on the same day.
Main duties of the job
The hospital rotation could include working on the Hospital Birth Centre (Obstetric Labour Ward), Postnatal Ward or the Antenatal Ward. Bank work is subject to availability in each area.
We have an extensive preceptorship package which includes alongside your mandatory training - Simulation skills, IV Cannulation, Suturing, Bereavement, Screening study days with orientation in each new area.
You will be supported to develop your competencies in suturing and cannulation. You will be expected to participate in the care of women requiring both high and low risk care, bereavement care, induction of labour and the immediate postnatal period. We work as part of a MDT and you will liaise with and receive support from other health care professionals on the ward such as doctors, nurses and more senior midwives.
You will be supported by our Senior Midwifery Team, Practice leaders, our PMAs and PDM team to build on your skills and confidence as you progress through your preceptorship.
You will only be signed off for preceptorship if you have completed a minimum of 780 additional midwifery hours after your 6m fixed term contract and all other competencies and requirements have been completed.
