Periodontology Department are seeking 6PA Fixed TermSpecialty Dentist(s) to join a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward-thinking team. The department is currently involved in many exciting initiatives and are looking for an individual(s) with appropriate skills to complement this team.
The post holders will be expected to show drive and initiative towards patient care putting the patient first. They will be based within the Periodontology dental service. The successful individual(s) will supervise dental students overseeing the care of both surgical and non- surgical patients, along with assisting the consultant led periodontology assessment clinics.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a first-class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment.
Main duties of the job
The post will be based in the Periodontology department, Floor 22 Guy's Tower. However, it is a requirement of your employment that you be prepared to work at any additional or different location owned or served by the Trust, either on an on-going or temporary basis according to the demands of the service.
Main Duties of the Job
- Be dentally qualified
- Have experience in providing specialist oral health care in periodontology patients, ensuring that patients are involved in decisions about their care
- Able to participate in clinical and other service activities with the objective of ensuring a high standard of patient care
- Play an active role in the clinical supervision, training and education of postgraduate students and trainees as well as participate in the training and education of undergraduate students
- Ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care Programmed Activities

A proposed programme is given below and you will be expected to discuss and agree a detailed job plan including your personal and professional objectives with your Clinical Lead within 3 months of your start date.
As an organisation we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends. The job plan will be negotiated between the clinician and the Clinical Lead at least annually. The initial job plan for this post is planned to be:

- On the GDC's specialist Register for Periodontology or within 6 months of eligibility for inclusion

- Experience in undertaking periodontal surgical procedures including minor augmentation, mucogingival and regenerative techniques
- Understanding and experience of clinical supervision involving simple surgical procedures
- Proficient and competent in the management of patients with advanced periodontal disease (non-surgical and surgical)
- Experience in presenting finding to patients, teams and learners using diplomacy and empathy
Desirable
- Knowledge and understanding of the interface of periodontology with other disciplines
Audit Management & IT
