Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified practitioner psychologist who is enthusiastic about working with children with physical health and/or complex neurodevelopmental conditions to join the Community Children's Psychology Service at London Evelina where we serve the communities of Lambeth and Southwark. This role is part of a pilot funded by Southwark IBC to increase the assessment and identification of Intellectual Disability of children and young people in Southwark.
As a HCPC registered psychologist you will have the opportunity to develop existing knowledge and clinical skills within paediatric settings as well as gaining skills and experience in service development as we set up this new pathway. This role would appeal especially to candidates wishing to temporarily increase their working hours and who have a specialist interest in paediatrics and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the development of a new pathway for the assessment of Intellectual Disability in children and young people in Southwark. The post holder will provide comprehensive assessment of cognitive and everyday living skills as well as collating relevant developmental and educational information to come to a conclusion around Intellectual Disability diagnosis. The post holder will write comprehensive reports and provide feedback and recommendations to the child, family and network as appropriate, as well as any psychoeducation around the formulation/diagnosis as needed. The post holder will gather service user feedback and collate data to inform the success of this pilot with the aim to establish this pathway within the offer available to children and young people with developmental differences living in Southwark. The post provides a unique opportunity to help shape a service which meets an unmet need for children, young people and their families, living in Southwark.
The ideal candidate will be systematic and well organised, able to self-manage, creative, with excellent communication skills.
The post holders will join a small team of clinical psychologists within Children's Community Services. The psychology team sits within Evelina Neurosciences, which has a strong psychology presence.
