Job summary

This strategic programme was specifically designed to provide unrivalled high quality clinical- academic training and development opportunities beyond traditional education centre boundaries multiple specialties and staff groups whilst providing access to extensive academic and education links across the Partnership.

The Training Fellowship in clinical heart failure represents one of the first of a growing list of Partnership Fellowships offered to International and UK trainees.

This is a prestigious rotational training programme across the Heart, Lung and Critical Care Clinical Group at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This is a pioneering program with a unique opportunity to work in world leading clinical and research centres across London. In addition to looking after inpatients and outpatients with heart failure, from diagnosis to advanced therapies and palliative care, this post will offer opportunities in research, audit, and imaging modalities.

There is one job starting in July 2026. Our training programme goal is to empower each trainee with the vital clinical skills and tools needed to become independent heart failure consultants.

Main duties of the job

Research Opportunities

Fellows are also encouraged to identify a research project early in their training given the legacy of pioneering clinical research across all sites. Fellows are strongly encouraged to complete a research project and submit for publication.

Teaching Facilities

Throughout the training programme, didactic teaching sessions will be held as well as opportunities to attend national and international courses/conferences.

Every faculty member is uniquely skilled and focussed on training and development of the Fellows. They are dedicated to providing the best in individualised care for each patient and imparting these skills to the Fellow.

The post holder will also be actively encouraged to participate in clinical audit and mortality and morbidity reviews, and will have the opportunity to participate in management meetings, service improvement and protocol development.

Evaluation

Each fellow will be evaluated at the start of the programme and at 6 months. Trainees will be evaluated on their progress in meeting their individual requirements and will be provided with appropriate direction by the program director. The same review is completed at the end of the training year, documenting proficiency in achieving all skills. Evaluation should include 360 degree feedback and patient feedback surveys.
