Job summary
This post has been created to offer bespoke specialist training in Hair and Nail Disorders and the overlap of Dermatology with Endocrinology. The post is designed to offer experience managing patients with complex scalp and hair disorders and endocrine pathologies influencing hair physiology. It will also allow successful candidates to be involve in clinical research in adolescent and adult alopecias. You will be part of a large, consultant-led multi-disciplinary team. This post is aimed at candidates seeking further experience managing patients primarily with complex scalp and hair disorders.
Main duties of the job
To receive subspecialist training and further development in hair and nail disorders and endocrino-pathologies of relevance to alopecias.
To deliver clinical and other service activities in order to provide a high standard of care for patients with hair and nail disorders.
To contribute to clinical research activities of St. John's Institute of Dermatology
The postholder will, together with colleagues, contribute to the provision of dermatology care for hair and nail disorders as follows:
- To be an active member of the multidisciplinary hair and nails team
- To undertake outpatient clinics (general hair and nails; advanced therapeutics)
- To contribute to the required medical support for patients requiring advanced and immunosuppressive therapies
- To provide continuing clinical responsibility for the patients in your charge
- To support clinical research (commercial and non-commercial)
- To engage in and learn from Endocrinology clinics about the relevance of endocrine pathology in certain alopecias
- To engage in audit and quality service improvement activities
