Clinical Fellow in Community Paediatrics

1 Full Time - 40 hours per week, part time will be considered

Fixed Term - 1 x 12 months , suitable for a doctor looking to OOPT.

Job holder will join a dynamic team and will work across all aspects of community paediatrics, delivering high quality care to children and young people. They will be responsible for carrying out developmental assessments working with a multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

To assess children and young people presenting with developmental concerns, and generate a differential diagnosis and care plan

To liaise with other specialties and participate in inter-disciplinary and interagency meetings as needed to promote the health and wellbeing of children, and contribute to transition planning.

To undertake the medical assessment of children as laid out in the SEND code of practice and Children and Families Act 2014, and to write reports as appropriate to support Education, Health and Care Plan needs assessments.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise
  • MRCPCH or equivalent qualification / evidence of equivalent experience

Clincial Experience

Essential

  • 5 complete years of postgraduate clinical experience, including UK NHS paediatric experience
  • ST4 level at minimum, or equivalent, or Post CCT
  • At least 6 months experience of Community Paediatrics

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Experience in developmental paediatrics including autism assessment, with training in using developmental assessment tools
  • Clinical experience in the field of safeguarding, including carrying out child protection medical examinations
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with families, young people and professionals

  • Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Evidence of contribution to effective clinical audit and clinical risk management
