Job summary

Applications are invited for Senior Clinical Fellows in Paediatric Immunology & Infectious Diseases (PIID). The posts are based at the Evelina London Children's Hospital, Guys & St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust. In addition to supporting the clinical service the post holder will gain experience in research, education and quality improvement.

The successful applicant will join seven PIID consultants (4 WTE) and two Paediatric infectious diseases clinical fellows. The PIID team works closely with The Department of Infectious Diseases (The DoI - incorporating Virology & Microbiology sections) and the Department of Infection Prevention & Control (IPC). In total, the DoI has about 50 staff including 6 consultant virologists, 6 consultant microbiologists, 8 adult ID physicians, and several antimicrobial pharmacists.

Main duties of the job

The clinical PIID team deliver inpatient and outpatient care covering acute/complex infection, HIV, TB, congenital infection, inflammation (PIMS-TS, Kawasaki Disease & Fever), Antimicrobial stewardship (AMS), Paediatric outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy (pOPAT), infection control and primary/secondary immunodeficiency clinics. In patients are reviewed at Evelina London Children's hospital and the Royal Brompton. Telephone advice is given to the other hospitals within the South East Thames network.
