The Department of Orthopaedics is seeking a (10 PA) consultant to join a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking team. To support growth in demand for shoulder and elbow surgery in our department.
They will be an integral part of the orthopaedic and trauma department delivering multidisciplinary care to both the local South East London population and our tertiary referral network patients. The Orthopaedic Department is currently involved in many exciting initiatives and is looking for an individual with appropriate skills to complement this team, and help keep the service in the forefront of clinical and academic excellence.
The Department offers a wide range of service to patients. The post holder will undertake outpatient and inpatient sessions on a flexible basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a first class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment.

Job Summary
To provide an orthopaedic trauma service in conjunction with colleagues, the appointee should have a special interest in shoulder and elbow trauma.
The appointee will have a specialist expertise in elective Shoulder and elbow surgery both arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery and arthroplasty of both the shoulder and elbow.
To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care
To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
To contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development
The appointee will have a specialist expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery.

This post is for a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a sub special interest in shoulder and elbow to support growth in demand for surgery in our department. They will be an integral part of the orthopaedic and trauma department delivering multidisciplinary care to both the local South East London population and our tertiary referral network patients.
The post holder would be joining the shoulder and elbow service consisting of 3 consultants and a trauma service of 10 consultants. On the St Thomas site, the consultant would work with the Orthopaedic Trauma Team to deliver acute fracture care both virtually, face to face and trauma operating. On the Guys site, the consultant will deliver elective arthroplasty, revision arthroplasty, arthroscopic repairs, stabilisation and fracture fixations. You will also be working alongside colleagues from hospitals across South London in developing the regional hubs.
