Job summary

This clinical post will involve delivering outpatient cardiology care, providing service leadership and driving service development. The job plan includes face-to-face and virtual cardiology clinics (general cardiology and heart failure), referral triage and providing advice and guidance for local GPs. The postholder will be expected to provide clinical leadership for staff working in the Bexley community cardiology service. There will be allocated time to lead service development in collaboration with primary care, including quality improvement work and designing end-to-end pathways for patient care. The postholder will be expected to further develop existing links with local services (e.g. the Oxleas Heart Failure community nursing team) and to work with stakeholders to integrate Bexley cardiology with additional local services (such as local frailty services and the planned neighbourhood teams).

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver outpatient cardiology care within the Bexley Community Cardiology Service, including general cardiology and heart failure clinics.

  • Undertake face-to-face and virtual clinics, referral triage, and provide advice and guidance to local GPs.

  • Provide clinical leadership to staff working across the Bexley community cardiology pathways.

  • Lead service development work, collaborating with primary care on pathway redesign, quality improvement and end-to-end care models.

  • Strengthen and expand links with local services (e.g., Oxleas HF nursing team, frailty services, neighbourhood teams).

  • Support integration of Bexley cardiology services with wider local health provision

  • Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)

  • Evidence of thorough and broad training and experience in relevant speciality
