About us
The Royal Brompton Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) unit is one of seven nationally commissioned centres in the UK. It was developed alongside the ACHD unit and maintains very close links, with shared patients and clinical team members. However, the PH service manages a full range of patients with PH with referrals from all over the South East and South of England with around 1000 patients, 800 of which are on specialist medications for PH. However, we also see patients from outside these areas. The service has recently expanded as the Royal Brompton Hospital has become part of GSTT Trust, with their PH service merging with ours. The service has an active and growing network of shared care centres, including: The John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford: University Hospitals Southampton; St George's Hospital, London; The Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading; East Surrey Hospital and Frimley Park Hospital, Surrey. It fulfils all specifications of a commissioned centre for the management of PH and has a full range of comprehensive tertiary facilities. The unit has an active interventional programme. There is excellent access to other specialist respiratory and cardiology services. There are multiple specialist clinics covering all aspects of tertiary PH care. These include high-risk pregnancy, electrophysiology and transplantation.
