Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Paediatric Advanced Therapy Nurse (Band 7) to join our dynamic team delivering cutting-edge care to children and young people receiving Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs), including gene and cell therapies.

You will play a key role in ensuring the safe and effective delivery of these highly specialised therapies, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across clinical, research, and pharmacy departments.

You will be an experienced paediatric nurse with a strong background in acute or specialist care, ideally with experience in research, oncology/haematology, or cell/gene therapy. You will have the confidence to lead complex care delivery and an enthusiasm for working within a rapidly evolving field and will work alongside the Adult Advanced Therapy research nurse to develop the service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will act in a senior specialist role responsible for the safe and effective delivery of advanced therapies in clinical trials involving children and young people, leading and coordinating a portfolio of advanced therapy clinical research studies, including Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (AT(i)MPs) and bispecific antibodies across a range of therapeutic areas within paediatrics. These therapies involve complex care pathways requiring advanced planning, multi-disciplinary collaboration, and specialist nursing skills.The post holder will manage and coordinate patients participating in these studies, ensuring their safety and adherence to protocols while collecting and maintaining accurate data. They will be responsible for ensuring the robust set-up, safe delivery of investigational therapies, continuous care of participants across inpatient and outpatient settings, and compliance with regulatory and governance frameworks.The role demands a high level of clinical expertise, critical thinking and leadership in managing complex and novel interventions. The role will work collaboratively with MDT teams, research sponsors and families, providing expert advice, training, and clinical leadership across multiple departments, and supporting service development in line with evolving national and local strategies for AT(i)MP delivery.

About us

This post has been created as a consequence of sustained activity in the field of paediatric research and external funding to support the development of the advanced therapy service within the Evelina London. The Trust is one of London's largest recruiting paediatric sites contributing to NIHR Clinical Research Network (NIHR-RDN) supported studies. Currently, all major paediatric subspecialties, apart from hepatology and neurosurgery, are located in GSTFT and all areas are engaging in NIHR-RDN supported studies.

The paediatric clinical research team in which this post sits will (a) contribute to the ongoing expansion of research activity and capabilities within Evelina London Children's Hospital (b) facilitate greater paediatric access to the Wolf and Seal Clinical Research Facilities through working with the existing research nurse pool, promote research activity elsewhere within ELCH and within our partner organisations in Kings Healthcare Partners.
