About us

The Department of Nephrology and Transplantation at Guy's Hospital is one of the largest in the UK, providing kidney care to adults in South East London, neighbouring areas of Kent and the Channel Islands.

The transplant surgical department also provides paediatric kidney transplant and dialysis access surgical services to children at Evelina London Children's Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital. We perform 40-60 paediatric kidney transplants per year, approximately one-third of the entire UK programme. We work closely with paediatric nephrologists in London and Southampton, and perform kidney transplants at King's College Hospital as part of the paediatric simultaneous liver-kidney transplant programme there. Members of the paediatric transplant surgical team also provide renovascular surgical services at Evelina London Children's Hospital and GreatOrmond Street Hospital.

Our nephrology colleagues offer a full range of peritoneal and haemodialysis therapies both at home and in hospital, and we provide surgical services to enable dialysis access creation, e.g., arteriovenous fistula formation and peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion. Live donor nephrectomy services are provided by transplant surgicalcolleagues at Guy's Hospital.

We are nationally and internationally recognised for quality of care, innovation in clinical practice and service delivery.
