Breast Unit Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Job summary

The Cancer and Surgery Directorate at Guy's and St Thomas's is seeking a qualified Breast Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join the Breast Unit at Guy's Hospital. The post is initially to cover maternity leave for a period of 12 months however there may be opportunities for this to be extended.

The post holder will be an experienced practitioner, acting within their professional boundaries. The person will have the skills associated with history taking, physical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care as well as nurse prescribing. They will use their knowledge and skills to provide expert, efficient and safe patient care within the Breast Unit.

The Post holder will demonstrate clinical judgement and critical decision-making skills based upon evidence-based practice to provide safe and effective care.

Central to the post will be to work collaboratively with consultants and other members of the Breast MDT.

We would welcome applications from qualified ANP that would like to develop their skills in within the Breast Service. We would provide supervision and training to allow the post holder to practise independently in this area.

Main duties of the job

  • Facilitate the provision of high-quality care for all patients attending the Breast Units diagnostic, one stop clinics
  • Provide expert patient care with initial history taking, clinical assessment, ordering investigations and interpreting results within the rapid diagnostic and assessment unit.
  • Act as an autonomous practitioner in managing and providing advice regarding breast conditions
  • Maintain the safe and efficient care for patients on remote surveillance on the Personalised Stratified Follow Up (PSFU) pathway, liaising and working with the PSFU team

Prioritise, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality.
