Job summary
Community Dermatology Lambeth (CDL) is seeking a fixed term (12 month) 8.25 PA Associate Specialty in Dermatology to join an enthusiastic and forward-thinking team. The department is currently involved in exciting initiatives and are looking for an individual with appropriate skills to complement this team and help keep the service in the forefront of clinical excellence.
The post holder will be expected to show initiative towards patient care putting the patient first. They should have significant experience in the provision of community and paediatric dermatology services and hold the UK dermatology certificate of completion of training or equivalent outside the UK.
This is an excellent opportunity to join an active and progressive community service delivered on the sites of St Thomas' Hospital and West Norwood Leisure Centre.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be responsible to Lambeth Community Clinic Lead, Dr Mitesh Patel. The post-holder will also supervise the clinic and be the point of contact for the CDL when Dr Mitesh Patel is away.

To work in and support general paediatric and paediatric severe eczema services.
To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring
a high standard of patient care.
To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and
training.
Indicative clinic templates:
Community dermatology: 8 new, 2 follow-ups
General paediatric dermatology: 4 new, 6 follow-ups
Severe eczema clinic; 4-6 patients

The role of the Dermatology Associate Specialty
Offer dermatology consultations for assessment of patients referred into community dermatology services clinics
Offer procedures such as dermoscopy, cryotherapy, injections and surgical intervention as appropriate
Arrange investigation, offer management plans for GP implementation (returning patients to GP care) or to offer follow up (either face to face or as a telephone consultation) or onward referral to secondary care as needed
Maintain adequate and timely records of consultations, investigations, prescribing and procedures using the clinical system and its templates &/or a separate database where appropriate (e.g., biopsies)
Ensure timely review of results with communication of the outcome to the patient or their carer and/or referring clinician as appropriate.
Complete computerised outcome letters to the referring clinician/ patient/ carer and liaise with the administration team to ensure that letters reach them
Prescribe in line with local dermatology formularies (South East London APC/ JMF)
Practise in a way that seeks to comply with the SE London Treatment Access Policy.
Practise within national 2WW/ NICE/ IOG/ BAD/PCDS/ local dermatology guidelines
Practise within their competence, acknowledge limitations and decline duties for which they are not qualified. Liaise/ seek advice from community dermatology consultant colleagues for optimal delivery of patient care and to address their training needs.
Complete relevant activity documentation (by hand or within computer templates as requested) to allow tracking of KPI
Complete mandatory training and comply with relevant regulations
Handle data/ images/ patient information in a GDPR compliant manner e.g. ensuring use of nhs.net email addresses for transfer of patient specific information
Take reasonable care for their safety and that of others in both actions and omissions. Report and seek immediate advice in the event of a needle stick injury or other injury sustained whilst delivering care
Report significant or near miss events at the earliest opportunity
