Are you a passionate Nurse or Allied Health Professional (AHP) Educator looking to make a real difference for children and families? We're seeking an experienced educator to lead the design and delivery of an innovative Pan Thames training programme for health professionals caring forbabies, children and young people (BCYP) requiring long-term ventilation (LTV) across the North and South Thames Paediatric Networks.
You'll play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality, blended learning--combining e-learning and face-to-face training--to build the skills, confidence and consistency of healthcare teams. Your work will directly support more children to receive safe, effective care closer to home, improving outcomes and family experiences.
This is a collaborative, network-wide role working with Clinical Leads and multidisciplinary teams across the North and South Thames Paediatric Networks. Although hosted by Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT), the role spans London, Surrey, Sussex, Kent, and neighbouring Trusts of the East of England.
This is a hybrid role. The successful candidate will be required toattend twice-monthly team meetings in person, alongside other face-to-face days as needed to support service delivery. This includes travel across the region to provide training, attend stakeholder meetings, and participate in collaborative activities.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will act as a clinical education leader, taking responsibility for the design, coordination and delivery of high-quality blended learning (e-learning and face-to-face) for healthcare professionals caring for babies, children and young people (BCYP) requiring long-term ventilation (LTV).
They will collaborate across the North and South Thames Paediatric Networks Trusts, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent, sustainable education delivery. This also involves travelling to those Trusts to deliver the training.
The post holder willbuild strong professional relationships, engage stakeholders, and secure expert speakers to enhance programme content.
They will also contribute strategically to workforce development and future planning, supporting the ongoing evolution of the Networks' educational framework in partnership with NHS England, ICBs, professional bodies, and where appropriate, children and families.
About us
Many babies, children and young people (BCYP) with complex conditions require additional respiratory support via Long Term Ventilation (LTV). This requires a high level of coordination of care from multiple specialties across the whole of the health and social care systems.
The Pan Thames paediatric LTV programme delivers a comprehensive updated LTV service for the region to tackle systemic issues with the aim to reduce the time BCYP on LTV spend in hospital and maximise high-quality care and time at home.
This is achieved through:
- Standardising and supporting delivery of quality assured training & education and the attainment and maintenance of competencies for all types of carers at all levels of care delivery
- Providing a welfare advice service to address housing and benefit requirements where appropriate and, pathway co-ordination to enable clinicians to support patients and their families
- Deliver improvements in care, utilisation of beds, access to services and access to equipment for families
Geographically, the programme covers the North Thames Paediatric Network (North London and bordering East of England Trusts), and the South Thames Paediatric Network (South London, Kent and Medway, Surrey Heartlands, Sussex).

Identify training and development needs of multidisciplinary clinical teams across the networks in accordance with local and national policies to develop confidence and competence of staff caring for CYP on LTV, and improve patient safety
Develop resources to support the education and training for clinicians across the networks

Assist in the provision of training programmes for a broad range of clinicians to expand their clinical skills
Support the review and development of the annual educational, training, development plans. Acting as representative in the course management and curricula development forums and liaise with Higher Education Institutes in order to present future needs and requirements and be familiar with the educational needs for the network staff
Work with local and national bodies, and other educators to contribute to standard setting and benchmarking for nursing and other clinical practice
Participate in the training of staff to monitor the quality of care delivered using clinical standards and takes necessary action to ensure excellence in nursing practice. Bases standards upon relevant research where possible
Participate in Individual Performance Review of staff when appropriate using the Scope of Professional Practice
Assist in the accurate collection of data relating to staff training data, and any other data that may be reasonably requested for audit purposes. Protects patient confidentiality and acts according to the Data Protection Act
Identify barriers to learning and develops mitigations especially in consideration with working across a large geographical region
Assist in maintaining a Risk log and disseminating learning from risks/ incidents across the Pan Thames region
Assist in maintaining and developing the Education content for the Pan Thames Website for both professionals and parents/ carers
