Job summary

This is an exciting time to join the team at King's Health Partners (KHP) in this newly created role as Chief of Staff. The post holder will support the KHP Executive in their oversight across the full breadth of the portfolio. The post holder will take a significant leadership role in the implementation of the KHP 2030 strategy, launched in 2025 and supported through a new operating model. The role will sit on the Executive and be a member of the senior leadership team and will provide expert advice, management and organisational support to the Executive Director and the executive team. They will also manage corporate affairs and the communications and business support functions. The role will also work closely with the Director of Strategic Delivery, Health and Life Sciences at King's College London to ensure strong links to our university partner.

Main duties of the job

The role is highly autonomous. You will therefore require the highest level of interpersonal, communication and influencing skills, both within and external to the partnership, working across a complex system.

You should have a successful track record of delivering effective corporate services in a large, multifaceted environment including governance, staff management, financial management and change management.

Evidence of delivering successful strategic and operational performance management and clearly demonstrating improvement in the quality of service delivery at a strategic level; including business case preparation, service initiation, and the development and monitoring of outcome and output measures to support the KHP Impact Framework.

You should have extensive experience of delivering change and performance with and through management teams, by engaging them in the strategic direction and delivery plans, establishing clear work priorities with them, delegating effectively, ensuring a capability to deliver, monitoring performance and giving feedback.

You should have a comprehensive of the changing NHS and university environments and the challenges they face, as well as the interfaces between them.

You should have strong and inclusive leadership and interpersonal skills and authority with experience across organisational boundaries.

You will need to have extensive experience of budget management and have highly developed people management skills.

King's Health Partners is an Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC) where world class research, education and clinical practice are brought together for the benefit of patients. Our partnership brings together three NHS Foundation Trusts (Guy's & St Thomas', King's College Hospital and South London and Maudsley) and a university, King's College London.

The KHP team is made up of employees from our four partner organisations and you will be required to understand both NHS and university policies and practices.
