Band 5 Nurse - Dermatological Surgery and Laser Unit

Our Dermatological Surgery and Laser Unit is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 5 Nurse to join our specialist team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge surgical techniques, such as Mohs micrographic surgery, in the treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer on both the face and body.

As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will:

  • Assist in Mohs micrographic surgery, performing procedures in an outpatient setting
  • Support the management of a wide range of dermatological conditions through minor surgery and biopsies
  • Work closely with our dedicated team of doctors and nurses to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Rotate through various areas of dermatology and skin cancer services, gaining invaluable experience and expertise

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5 Nurse with a genuine interest in dermatology and skin cancer treatments. The ideal candidate will possess:

Main duties of the job

  • Specialist Patient Care: Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with skin cancer, from diagnosis through to treatment and discharge, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout their journey.
  • Clinical Practice: Provide evidence-based nursing assessments, care planning, interventions, and evaluations in designated clinical areas, prioritising patient needs and adhering to high standards of care.
  • Surgical Assistance: Assist in outpatient surgical procedures, including Mohs micrographic surgery, under the guidance of the multidisciplinary team, ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment.
  • Complex Wound Management: Take responsibility for the care and management of complex wounds, demonstrating expertise in post-operative care and skin cancer prevention strategies.
  • Laser Treatment Support: Support the use of lasers in treating conditions such as vascular lesions and scarring, ensuring patients receive safe and effective treatments.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside our experienced dermatology team, contributing to patient care plans, attending multidisciplinary meetings, and ensuring continuity of care.
  • Prioritisation and Flexibility: The ability to manage and prioritize your workload effectively, adapting to the dynamic pace of this specialist service while remaining flexible to the needs of the team and patients.
