Job summary

The Highly Specialist Oncology Clinical Trials Pharmacist provides expert leadership and oversight of pharmacy services for oncology and haematology clinical trials (OHCT) at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT). Working jointly with the Early Phase Lead Clinical Trials Pharmacist, the post holder ensures compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), manages pharmaceutical aspects of trials, evaluates cost-effectiveness, and supports the safe and efficient delivery of investigational medicines. The role also contributes to research governance, service development, and staff training.

Main duties of the job

  • Leadership & Service Management: Lead pharmacy support for oncology and haematology clinical trials, including trial setup, approval, and delivery.

  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to GCP, GMP, and relevant UK/EU legislation for investigational medicinal products.

  • Clinical Practice: Provide expert pharmaceutical care to trial patients, offering specialist advice to clinicians, investigators, and research staff.

  • Training & Development: Deliver and evaluate training for pharmacy and research staff involved in clinical trials.

  • Financial & Resource Management: Assess cost implications and oversee invoicing, contracts, and resource allocation for trials.

  • Quality & Evaluation: Monitor performance, lead audits, prepare reports, and support regulatory inspections.

  • Research & Innovation: Contribute to clinical research, audit, and the development of new protocols, guidelines, and best practices.

  • Dispensing and checking experience in dispensary and aseptic/technical services
  • Previous experience in delivering training and education at post graduate level
