The Evelina London Children's Hospital is seeking to appoint an 8PA specialist consultant in Paediatric Neurodevelopmental disability working in the neurosciences department within the Newcomen Neurodevelopmental service). We have close working links with state of the art genetics, neurophysiology, neuro-radiology and neurosurgery services across GSTT, Kings College Hospital and Kings Health Partners. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to alongside the multidisciplinary complex neurodevelopmental disability team which serves the South East England region

Main duties of the job
- To provide clinical leadership and input to the tertiary neurodevelopmental clinics, including providing: second opinions to paediatricians; leadership across the neurosciences service; and supporting regional/other districts in developing their services. To provide a paediatric opinion as part of a multidisciplinary team for children who will mostly but not exclusively be outpatients (hospital and community). The children may have an autistic disorder, ADHD, learning difficulties, a range of emotional and behavioural problems including neuropsychiatric conditions and a range of coexisting medical and genetic disorders.
- Occasional Neurodisability consultations on in-patients under any team in ELCH.
- The post is less focused on physical disability, cerebral palsy, or epilepsy as there are existing services and consultant neurologist colleagues who focus on these areas. However, any relevant areas of interest or expertise will be welcomed.
- The post will also cross cover across the neurodevelopment service (including other clinics such as behavioural feeding clinics)
About us
The Newcomen Neurodevelopmental Service is part of the Tertiary Neurosciences Department at Evelina London Children's Hospital and is located on the St Thomas' site. It is a tertiary level service for children in the South East of England, with the more severe complex neurodevelopmental disorders often with associated physical, mental and neuropsychiatric problems.
We currently offer a wide range of services including multi-disciplinary neurodevelopmental assessment of children with autism and communication disorders; ADHD; intellectual disability; acquired neurological and genetic disorders; psychopharmacology interventions; behavioural intervention for children with challenging behaviour; educational intervention; a complex behavioural feeding service; a wide range of services for children with motor disorders; a developmental epilepsy service; and a sleep service.
We work within a neurosciences team with one of the largest patient referral bases in the UK. We have close working links with state of the art genetics, neurophysiology, neuro-radiology and neurosurgery services across GSTT, Kings College Hospital and Kings Health Partners.

Essential
- Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practice.
- Completed a minimum of 18 months higher specialist training in Neurodisability
- MRCPCH by examination or equivalent
- Valid APLS and NLS
- Valid Level 3 Safeguarding Training
- Valid BLS Training
- Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) applicants must be on the Specialist Register at the point of application
Desirable
- On GDC/GMC Specialist Register or within six months of attaining CCT in Paediatric Neurodisability
- Higher degree, e.g. MSc, MD, PhD in Paediatrics
