Consultant in Adult Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care

Job summary

We are seeking to appoint a substantive Consultant in Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine based at the Royal Brompton hospital.

In addition to holding full GMC registration and specialist registration in Anaesthesia or equivalent and Intensive Care Medicine or equivalent, the successful candidate will be in possession of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent or be within 6 months of possession at the time of interview.

A minimum of two years of experience in adult cardiothoracic critical care and cardiothoracic anaesthesia at Fellow and/or Consultant level is essential. AUK, European or American Qualification in transoesophageal echocardiography is also essential.

Main duties of the job

Main duties will be in delivering care in the level 2/3 critical care facilities at the Royal Brompton hospital. Applicants will be expected to participate in an on-call rota including ECMO. Emergency work arising from on-call duties will be considered in the assessing of programmed activities for on-call in the agreed job plans.

Duties will also be in cardiothoracic anaesthesia, catheter labs and diagnostic bronchoscopy. Some duties may be delivered in the pre-assessment clinics when undertaking flexible sessions.
