The closing date is 06 October 2025
Job summary
Advanced Dietetic Assistant (Obesity)
Here at GSTT we have multiple weight management services (Tier 2 and Tier 3) that we run across our local south east London boroughs Southwark, Lambeth, Lewisham, Bromley and Bexley.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time fixed-term post until Oct 2026 for an ambitious person to join our Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust Up!Up! Tier 2 weight management service tailored specifically to black African and black Caribbean communities in Lewisham.
For the role, you must have experience delivering behaviour change interventions to people from diverse backgrounds including those from Black communities, and be confident using virtual platforms. This includes delivering nutrition education, behaviour change principles and delivering exercise sessions (training will be provided). You must have a developed understanding of weight bias and stigma in both healthcare and everyday life.
Here at GSTT, Our Healthier South East London ICS commissions us to provide a large Tier 3 service, as well as multiple Tier 2 services across some of our local boroughs. For this reason, we have a large, close-knit multi-disciplinary team that you will be working alongside. This is an advanced-level dietetic assistant post and we are looking for someone motivated, confident and autonomous.
Main duties of the job
You will work on site each day from our Healthy Living team office in St. Thomas Hospital (Westminster). You will be delivering the online interventions, as well as delivering face-to-face groups at community sites across South East London. These community sites include, but are not limited to Sommerville Community Centre (SE14 5JN) and St Laurence Community Centre (SE6 2TS). You will work Mon-Fri, of which 3 days will be 09:00 to 17:00 and 2 days will be 11:30 to 19:30. You will also work every other Saturday 0900 to 12:00. Twice per quarter your Saturday will include facilitating an afternoon reunion session with a 15:30 finish. You will deliver group interventions yourself virtually and face to face across South East London. You will facilitate peer support, will respond to queries raised, and liaise with GPs. You will play a key role in collection of outcome data from our service. In addition, the post holder will actively be involved in the Trust's clinical governance programme and quality agenda framework for ensuring continuing professional development, audit and research activities within this specialist area.
