Job summary
This role has a focus on the support of the regional revision knee service at Guy's Hospital. This forms part of the national revision knee network in the trust's capacity at the regional Major Revision Centre for South East London. This is an exciting opportunity to have a role in developing this service as part of the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) and Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) initiatives.
Main duties of the job
The duties of this post are those of a Trust Appointed ST1/ST2 Level Doctor.
The post is based at Guy's Hospital which is the site of the trust's elective Orthopaedic Activity. Duties will include day to day care of Orthopaedic inpatients in collaboration with other junior staff, attendance at outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, theatre lists, assessment of surgical emergencies and acutely unwell patients if necessary.

The post is based at Guys Hospital which is the site of the trusts elective Orthopaedic Activity. There will be a dedicated research element to the post with protected time for project work on a weekly basis. The post holder will support the clinical specialists and regional MDT co-ordinator in audit data collection and will also be expected to work towards original research with a focus in arthroplasty and revision arthroplasty. You will be expected to actively participate in the departments audit and clinical governance activities with appraisal.
The timetable will vary according to the needs of the department and the successful applicants experience and duties, but will normally contain a mix of the various categories of work suitable for extending your training and experience. The post holder will be responsible to the regional revision knee leads for an individual patients care and Trust Appointed ST1/ST2 Level Doctors should carry out the consultants instructions and policies, always seeking advice when appropriate. All departmental protocols and policies must be followed and the post-holder must familiarize him/herself with these policies.
The post holder will be encouraged to update his/her knowledge and skills through suitable Continuous Medical Education, including attending all the departments academic, teaching and audit meetings. Study leave is encouraged.
There will be no regular out of hours commitment to this post but the post holder may be required to support the other Trust Appointed Doctors in delivering a day time RMO on call service for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery.
