1 YEAR FIXED TERM POST OF LOCUM CONSULTANT SPECIALISING IN ADULT HYPERTENSION
The hypertension (HTN) service sits within the General Internal Medicine (GIM) service within the Acute and General Medince (AGM) Directorate at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT). The service is recognised as a Centre of Excellence for hypertension and is one of the largest dedicated Hypertension Services in the UK, receiving over 1200 referrals per year. It also provides consultant advice and guidance (A&G) to general practitioners across South East London (SEL) as well as proving an on-call service to other teams at GSTT, during day time hours Monday to Friday (not bank holidays). It also supports multi-disciplinary meetings in endocrinology, vascular surgery and pharmacist led community clinics.
It is expected that the candidate will actively contribute to the research output of the service and thus a background in academic HTN research is essential. Responsibilities will include detailed patient assessment, diagnosis, developing treatment plans, supervising resident staff, educating patients, and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to improve service delivery.
We are seeking a committed, talented & enthusiastic specialist in HTN care with an established reputation in the field of HTN for adults and recongised research portfolio. The post is a fixed term post for 12-months and attracts 6 PAs.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be accountable to Dr Nigel Beckett Clinical Lead for the adult HTN service, Dr Dan Furmedge, Service Lead for GIM, and Dr James Fleet, Clinical Director for the AGM Directorate.
