Job summary
We are seeking a dynamic individual committed to excellence in service delivery to join our first class team in an active and progressive central London teaching hospital environment.
The role will be cross sites but based mainly at the Royal Brompton site and the post holder will:
1. Support the laboratory service at the Royal Brompton site including laboratory management
2. Support the transfusion service
a. Participate in the site, GSTT wide and KHP transfusion meetings (e.g. transfusion team, hospital transfusion team, hospital transfusion committee service delivery, KHP transfusion team.)
b. Work with the transfusion team and Apollo programme to implement the Blood Transfusion IT solution
3. Support morphology reporting and review at the Royal Brompton site
4. Support the general haematology service including consultative reviews
5. Support fulfilment of CQUIN requirements for electronic referrals and GP advice and guidance
6. Cover of offsite Royal Brompton haematology colleagues
7. Participate in the out of hours rota covering the Harefield and Brompton sites out of hours
8. Join the gen haem -sickle attending rota at GSTT
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be accountable to Dr Nita Prasannan, clinical lead for sickle, general haematology and transfusion.
This post will be covering thegeneral haematology consultative service on the Brompton site, have laboratory management responsibilities and also be active in the transfusion team. This new post will cross cover their colleague haematologist based at Harefield who leads for haemastasis and thrombosis and will enable the 1:4 off site out of hours cover for the Harefield and Brompton sites.
This post will also provide laboratory support reviewing blood films and abnormal blood results and providing appropriate advice. They will also work with the other general haematology consultants to vet referrals and will share the provision of the 'Advice and Guidance' service for GPs (20-30 queries per week) and electronic referral systems (EVS, ERS) in line with the mandatory CQUIN targets. They will participate in two outpatient clinic per week at the Guys site.
The post holder will attend 1 week in 8 at the Guys and St Thomas sites for general and Sickle inpatients.
The post holder will work within the transfusion team to deliver the Trust transfusion service and further integration of the KHP Transfusion Team alongside existing transfusion consultants Anicee Danaee, Patrick Harrington and Susan Robinson.
