Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Administrator to join the Dermatology Research Team at the internationally renowned St John's Institute of Dermatology, based at Guy's Hospital.

You will play a key role in supporting a varied and high-performing portfolio of clinical research studies, including commercial and non-commercial clinical trials. Working within a multidisciplinary team of clinical researchers, nurses, and administrative staff, this post offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and a keen interest in clinical research.

This is a full-time Band 4 post and is ideal for individuals looking to build a career in NHS research administration within a world-class academic and clinical environment.

Main duties of the job

As a Research Administrator, you will provide essential administrative and coordination support to ensure the efficient delivery and governance of dermatology clinical research studies.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating day-to-day administrative requirements for clinical trials.

  • Managing research diaries, meeting bookings, and monitoring visits.

  • Preparing and maintaining essential study documentation including Investigator Site Files (ISFs) and regulatory records.

  • Handling trial supplies, version control, and ensuring audit readiness.

  • Assisting with submissions to ethics, R&D and other regulatory bodies.

  • Liaising with sponsors and supporting the research nursing team with tasks such as data entry, document retrieval, and scheduling.

  • Maintaining databases and spreadsheets to track study progress, participant accrual, and training records.

  • Providing general office-based administrative support across the dermatology research portfolio.

You will also be supported to undertake relevant training (e.g., Good Clinical Practice and Information Governance) and may be involved in selected patient-facing research activities following competency training.
