Senior Specialist Paediatric Dietitian

Job summary

To manage anticipated winter demand, Evelina Children's Hospital has confirmed funding for a 1.0 WTE Band 7 dietitian on a six-month fixed-term contract (1/10/25 - 31/3/26). This post will support the additional Paediatric High Dependency Unit (PHDU) beds that will open and work alongside our critical care dietetic team and multidisciplinary team (MDT). The post will also support our acute inpatient and outpatient services to ensure children continue to receive timely dietetic care during periods of increased demand.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide highly specialist paediatric dietetic assessment, advice, and management to children in acute, PHDU, and PICU settings.

  • Work closely with the critical care dietetic team and paediatric acute multidisciplinary teams (MDT) to deliver coordinated, patient-centred nutritional care.

  • Support acute inpatient and outpatient services to ensure children receive timely and effective dietetic care.

  • Assess and manage nutritional risks promptly to prevent complications and delays in care.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, carers, and healthcare professionals to provide education and support.

  • Adapt to a fast-paced environment requiring flexibility, resilience, and sound clinical judgment.

About us

The post holders will join a wider paediatric dietetic team of 39 WTE dietitians and dietetic assistants who cover a wide range of specialties including inherited metabolic disease, diabetes, renal, gastroenterology, complex feeding clinic, allergy and respiratory.

The service is overseen by the Evelina London Lead Dietitian and the Paediatric team form part of the wider dietetic department of over 100 dietitians, with a focus on innovation, quality, education, development and well-being.
