Job summary
We're currently recruiting a Building Craftsperson to properly and effectively maintain all building structures, fabric and finishes within the Community sites and associated buildings. You will be able to:
- Efficiently diagnose and repair faults in building structure, fabric and finishes and deal with new situations as they arise and to pass on knowledge to others.
- Set out new work or set up new production appropriate to his/her trade using relevant instruments without supervision.
- Learn new techniques, with training as necessary, and attend training courses as required.
The Building Maintenance and Improvement Department, which covers all traditional 'Estates functions' is primarily responsible for providing professional, effective, and efficient customer focused reactive and and planned maintenance services to the Trust's buildings.
The department is also responsible for minor improvements, refurbishment works, and also replacement programmes, delegated capital projects, and provides similar services to other third party organisations through Service Level Agreements.
The department works very closely with the Capital Projects, Engineering, and Operations Teams together with the end-user for successful delivery of all of these services.
Main duties of the job
- Must be able to work as part of a team and to work independently, without supervision.
- Must have a commitment to providing the highest quality of service.
- Ability to work well under pressure and still apply attention to detail.
- Ability to work on own initiative and demonstrate effective personal time management.
- Effective communication with the team managers and team members.
- This role requires the Shift Multi Skilled Craftsperson to be on site from 7:00 hours to 19:00 hours working on the shift rota.
- This role requires the Shift Multi Skilled Craftsperson to be flexible as working beyond the rostered days on may be required.
- Carry out all aspects of the building and carpentry trade.
- Carry out all types joinery work such as the installation of benching and shelving.
- Furniture assembly.
- Installation of all types of door locks and security mechanisms.
- Key cutting.
