Job summary
This one-year post will provide the postholder with advanced training in prenatal diagnosis and management of congenital heart disease. It will provide an opportunity for a transition period between higher specialist training/completion of training in Paediatric Cardiology (CCT) and working at consultant level. The postholder will gain experience in all aspects of fetal cardiology with the majority of their timetable committed to developing their sub-specialty interest. Commitment to paediatric cardiology service provision, including paediatric cardiology rapid assessment clinics is also an integral part of the post. It is expected that by the end of the one year post the successful candidate will be in a position to apply for a consultant position.
Main duties of the job
The main objectives of this post are:
o To develop subspecialty skills in fetal cardiologyo To provide a service commitment in Paediatric Cardiology and be involved in all aspects of the department.o To provide clinical support, together with other registrars, to the consultants in paediatric cardiology and fetal cardiology as well as perform independent outpatient clinic duties.o To participate in all clinical activities including multidisciplinary meetings across all sites with the objective of ensuring a high standard of patient care.o To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training. o To contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development.
