Job summary

South East London Trainee Newborn Hearing Screeners

We are looking for flexible, enthusiastic and committed trainee Newborn Hearing Screeners. This is a 7-day service so weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required on a rota basis.

Our screener posts are based in five maternity units in South East London Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Bromley, Bexley and Greenwich Hospitals. The screeners must be able to offer cover across the 5 Hospitals and 7 Clinics when needed.

Band 4 Trainee New-born Hearing screeners part time position, 30 hrs per week, available to be worked across: Princess royal University Hospital -Bromley & Kings College Hospital - Southwark.

Full time will also be considered.

Main duties of the job

This is a 7 day service and include working on weekends and Bank holidays.

The NHSP aims to screen the hearing of all newborn babies to enable the identification of children with permanent hearing impairment as early as possible. Covering the South-East London boroughs, this is one of the largest NHSP sites in the country, with approximately 26,000 births annually.

The SEL NHSP team is part of Paediatric Audiology Service in the community arm of Guy's and St Thomas's Foundation Trust. You will be on a Fixed Term Contract in line with Annex 21 arrangements for pay and banding of trainees as per the Agenda for change.

Year 1 Annex 21 salary 70 % of top of band:

Basic - £20,389.8

HCA - £5,822

Year 2 Annex 21 salary 75% of top of band

Basic - £21,825.5

As this is a developmental role it does require studies and will involve 80% on the job training and 20% studying.
