Locum Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist

The closing date is 06 July 2025

Job summary

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist to join the Paediatric Cardiology Service within Evelina London Women's & Children's Clinical Group. This is a full-time post, primarily based at the Royal Brompton Hospital site, but it is anticipated that there will be collaboration and cross site working at the Evelina London Hospital site. This role will immerse the successful applicant fully within the paediatric cardiology team by undertaking cover of the inpatient service, outpatient clinics and support of clinics throughout the wider paediatric congenital heart network.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be expected to work within the existing team on the Royal Brompton and Harefield and Evelina London Hospitals sites to continue to enhance the paediatric cardiology service and its network. The post-holder will participate in echo governance with a strong emphasis on quality and education and will help developing the service profile within the Clinical group, Trust and Network.

The post-holder will be expected to work closely with existing consultants and the multidisciplinary team to provide a clinical service of excellence for the child with congenital or acquired heart disease. Specifically, this would include contributing to the acute inpatient service provision by participating on the service rota, and supporting outpatient care with a clinic and support of the rapid access service.

The post holder will contribute to provision of network activity by taking over the responsibility for existing clinics within wider CHD network.

The post holder will be expected to actively participate in the research, education, and administrative responsibilities of the paediatric department, as well as generally support the Trust and its Directorate of Children's services.
