To provide a professional security service that will protect, advise, investigate and to act in the creation and maintenance of a safe and crime free environment for staff, patients and visitors.

To ensure that staff, patients and visitors are assisted, at all times and in any appropriate matters, in a manner that reflects positively on the Trust and the service.

Main duties of the job

To provide a protective escort for patients, staff, or relatives between Trust buildings out-of-hours, or where there is a particular need. In relation to these requests, to assist in such a manner that reflects positively on the Trust and minimises any distress felt by potentially vulnerable persons. To assist, where reasonable, any request from management that supports the function of the department and/or assists in the effective delivery of patient care. To support the Support Services Shift Leader's role within the department, giving all reasonable assistance and co-operation to the holder of that role, including any persons holding that role in a temporary or 'acting' capacity. To man the Trust's reception desks as required and to ensure that by personal appearance, courteous attitude and professional manner that the officer reflects positively on the Trust. To ensure that all calls for assistance made through the emergency call service are dealt with immediately. Security staff should proceed as quickly as is reasonable to the scene of the incident and follow the incident through to the most satisfactory conclusion possible, requesting support from the emergency services where appropriate. To physically assist, where appropriate, patients, staff or visitors who are actively being assaulted on the Trust's premises and to follow through these actions in accordance with the conditions laid out.
