Locum Consultant in Neurology and Neurofibromatosis

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic part-time Consultant Neurologist (7 PAs) to join our experienced multidisciplinary team. The post includes two general neurology clinics and one specialist neurofibromatosis (NF1) clinic per week. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician with an interest in general neurology and NF1 to contribute to a nationally recognised service.

The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across the department, including consultants, specialist nurses, and allied health professionals, and will take part in NF1 multidisciplinary meetings. Support and mentorship will be provided, particularly regarding the specialist NF1 service.

Our department delivers a broad range of services including stroke, epilepsy, MS, neuromuscular disorders, and movement disorders. We are committed to high standards of patient care, clinical governance, and education. The post-holder will also be expected to contribute to teaching, service development, and quality improvement initiatives.

Applicants must be GMC-registered with a CCT (or within 6 months). Experience in general neurology is essential, while experience in NF1, teaching, or research is desirable.

For informal enquiries, contact Dr Alexander Rossor, Head of Service, on 020 7188 7255.

About us

As an organisation, we are committed to developing our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This includes asking certain groups of staff to work more flexibly so that we can offer services to patients in the evenings and at weekends. We regard this flexibility as essential if we are to continue to provide first class patient care in the future. As a result, any offer of employment to a consultant post will be subject to you agreeing to work a new more flexible pattern of working in the future if required and in accordance with the provisions of the new Guy's and St. Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust consultant contract
