The Acute and General Medicine (AGM) Pharmacy Team at St Thomas' are excited to offer two new permanent Band 7 roles.
We are looking for early career clinical pharmacists who have a demonstrable grounding in hospital pharmacy practice, with a commitment to providing high quality pharmaceutical care to their patients.
These roles will support the successful candidates to gain the knowledge, skills and experience to develop their practice through working in a structured environment, with the support of the large and diverse AGM Pharmacy team as well as nursing, medical and AHP colleagues from a range of specialisms.
Main duties of the job
These roles will provide significant opportunities for learning and career development, building on the knowledge, skills and experience gained at a foundation level. The ideal candidates will be currently working towards the completion of their Postgraduate Clinical Diploma (or equivalent) and/or have significant experience at Band 6 or early Band 7 level.
The Specialist AGM Pharmacists will be core to co-ordinating the provision of high quality pharmaceutical care to patients under the care of the following inpatient clinical areas across Guys and St Thomas': Emergency Department, Acute Admissions Ward, General Medical Wards (encompassing respiratory, diabetes, infection, HCID, detox) and Older Persons Unit.
In addition to provision of daily clinical ward duties, these roles will include routinely partaking in consultant-led ward rounds, anticoagulation clinics , multi-disciplinary meetings, and medicines safety and local risk review meetings.
Key responsibilities will also include: both informal and formal teaching to pharmacy, nursing, medic and AHP colleagues and undergraduates, leadership and management tasks, regular contribution to audit and quality improvement across AGM, and medicines expenditure review and reporting.
