Job summary

We are seeking applications from enthusiastic and committed individuals to join the Radiology's senior management team as the Head of Nuclear medicine. The post holder will provide leadership, advice and strategic direction for the Nuclear Medicine services and also work as a Consultant Clinical Scientist.

You will work closely with the Directorate Management Team, superintendents and senior colleagues to ensure a patient focused, safe, efficient and cost effective service that is able to meet the current and future needs of our patients.

This will require you to line manage a designated team, manage your budget, assist in the delivery of access, activity and financial targets and closely monitor and deal with relevant clinical governance issues.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high quality Nuclear medicine services on the St Thomas' site, Guy's site Guy's Cancer Centre and the Evelina Children's Hospital.

As Head of Service accountable for the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of a high quality, safe effective and efficient Nuclear Medicine Service. To ensure the provision of a service of excellence, in response to scientific and clinical demand, in accordance with the aims, philosophy and strategic direction of the Trust, and the wider healthcare economy.

To provide leadership, operational management and ensure a high standard of care through appropriate risk management and governance of the clinical service and to ensure the service meets key performance indicators as agreed internally and with local commissioners.

To offer the highest level of professional management to facilitate and support service development and delivery, encompassing areas of education, continuing professional development and research initiatives.

To work closely with the Clinical Lead for Nuclear Medicine and Head of Radiopharmacy, and Chief Technologist as a Senior Leadership Team, to ensure excellence across the service.

As Head of Service to represent the service in all relevant forums both within the Trust and with any outside agencies and to serve as a consultant to the Trust in relation to the strategic development of the service across the organisation.

To be responsible for departmental budget, activity and physical resources including equipment, technology, and demand and capacity. To be responsible for actively leading on the business planning process and its delivery. To play an active role in the life work of Nuclear Medicine, taking responsibility for its service and performance at all levels. To lead and participate in the research & development programme for the Department and Directorate.
