Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust

Junior Clinical Fellow - Core Surgical Training Equivalent Year

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

This post offers a unique one-year opportunity for clinical rotations in surgical specialties, aligning closely with the structure of the Core Surgical Training Programme, equivalent to CT1 level. Applicants must have prior experience in NHS surgical specialties before application. Successful candidates may extend the post to a second year of rotations upon demonstrating engagement, fulfilling local appraisal requirements and maintaining a portfolio.

This is an innovative post rotating through clinical departments giving a broad exposure to surgery mirroring the Core Surgical Training Programme.

Main duties of the job

This is a standalone one-year post of clinical rotations in surgical specialties and is structured and administered as per the core surgical training programme to allow full or partial sign off via a certificate of equivalence. These posts are at junior clinical fellow level equivalent to CT1. For this reason, applicants must have undertaken work in the NHS in surgical specialties prior to application. This must be equivalent to completion of the Foundation Programme and ideally additional work in a surgical specialty at 'FY3/junior clinical fellow' level post Foundation competency sign off where possible.

With successful engagement and local appraisal (equivalent to an ARCP) there will be an opportunity to extend to a second year of rotations with a view to obtaining certificate of equivalence sign off.

You will be encouraged to maintain an equivalent portfolio which could be used to demonstrate experience equivalent to one year of the CT programme or consider a second year of rotations.
