Main duties of the job
Paediatric neuromuscular Medicine: The Paediatric Neuromuscular service provides a regional diagnostic and management service for around 800 children with peripheral neuromuscular disorders. This is a predominantly outpatient based service provided according to a multidisciplinary model and with on-site support from all necessary medical and surgical services.
Complex Motor Disorder Fellow: The purpose of Complex Motor Disorders Service (CMDS) is to contribute to the diagnosis and detailed evaluation and support of children who might benefit from neurosurgical interventions such as continuous intrathecal baclofen (ITB) pump implantation and deep brain stimulation (DBS) neuromodulation.
Epilepsy Fellow: The trainee will be exposed to a wide variety of epilepsy syndromes and related conditions, in both the outpatient and inpatient settings. The post will offer opportunities to develop skills in multidisciplinary management of childhood epilepsy and in the use and interpretation of neuro-imaging methods, epilepsy genetics and neurophysiological tests.
Paediatric Neuroinflammation:The trainee will be involved in the assessment and management of new secondary and tertiary level referrals for paediatric inflammatory disorders with a particular role in liaison and organisation of patient admission for investigation and assessment

About us
The broader Children's Neurosciences Service runs a large number of specialist and multidisciplinary clinics, widening the clinical exposure for successful candidates. They include complex epilepsy, neuromuscular and peripheral neuropathy, neonatal neurology, fetal neurology, neuropathic bladder, movement therapy, neuro-ophthalmology, joint genetics clinic, spina bifida , neurofibromatosis, neurological dysphagia, neuro-haematology (held with KCH for sickle cell cerebral vasculopathy) and a scoliosis clinic.
All Fellow posts are clinical appointments, but the department has a strong academic record, and development of a research interest will be encouraged
