Job summary

In conjunction with the Director of Clinical Coding and the Head of Coding Assurance, the post holder ensures that the service has a coherent Service User centered vision for the service, considering commissioning intentions and Trust strategic objectives.

We are looking for someone who focuses on people and team development, think outside the box, dare to challenge status quo; who can provide inclusive leadership and direction.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for ensuring the clinical coding data meets National Tariff Payment System (NTPS) requirements and supports Annual Business Plans, Clinical and Operational Efficiency, and Organizational Governance.
  • To represent the Trust at National/Local clinical coding forums as the organisation subject matter expert for clinical coding across all specialty groups.
  • To use streamlined processes for the analysis, validation and interpretation of highly complex coded data and be responsible for ensuring that regular audits are undertaken in accordance with the National Audit Framework. In turn identifying and correcting any coding errors, checking data completeness, and reviewing the quality of the information provided to coders.
  • To be responsible for the continual professional development and overall performance of all coding operations team staff in the Clinical Coding Department.
  • To play a major role in the continuous development of the Trust as the Head of operations and as a member of quality improvement project groups.

Qualifications/ Education

Essential

  • Academic achievement to Master level or equivalent through work experience.
  • Management experience to Master level and management qualification.
  • National Clinical Coding Accrediation - ACC

Desirable

  • Good SQL practical skills on large data warehouse

Previous experience

  • Proven ability to deliver at a senior level including staff management, change management and performance management.
  • In depth knowledge of NHS planning, costing and tariff guidance
  • Ability to work at a strategic level and develop strategic processes.
  • Budget management
