Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our cancer services pharmacy team. You will be part of a growing multi-professional team that provides specialist cancer care to patients at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. This position is for pharmacists who wish to gain experience in all aspects of pharmacy cancer services, gaining skills and knowledge as a foundation for a future career as a highly specialist oncology / haematology pharmacist.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside other specialist oncology pharmacists on a rotational programme within oncology. The rotational areas include:

  • clinical pharmacy service to oncology, haematology and surgical oncology patients on our inpatient wards
  • outpatient clinics, reviewing prescriptions for oral and IV systemic anti-cancer therapies (SACT)
  • our Chemotherapy Day Units at the Guy's Cancer Centre and Queen Mary's, Sidcup
  • supervise the safe and accurate dispensing of aseptically prepared SACT
  • working on the set-up and on-going management of oncology clinical trials, with our specialist oncology clinical trials team

  • Basic IT literacy - ability to use Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook
  • Good inter-personal skills, with the ability to liaise and influence senior managers and clinicians
  • Demonstrates good clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning and judgement
