Main duties of the job

To contribute positively towards the echocardiography service at the Royal Brompton Hospital. The main duties are outlined in the attached job description.

Essential

  • BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent
  • Echocardiography accreditation (British Society of Echocardiography level 2 or equivalent) with documented up-to-date continuing professional development

Desirable

  • 3years post accreditation experience
  • HCPC registered/eligible
  • Immediate Life Support or above

Experience

Essential

  • Contemporary experience in performing and reporting transthoracic echocardiography in adult patients
  • Background experience in range of techniques involved in assessment and therapy provision for patients with cardiac disease
  • Technical skills enabling measurement and analysis of physiological parameters, including 12 lead ECG & blood pressure
  • Ability to interpret fundamental ECG abnormalities

Desirable

  • Competency in strain imaging
  • Competency in 3D imaging
  • Competency in the use of ultrasound enhancing agents
  • Experience in complex pathologies in a cardiac surgery centre

Skills

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • High degree of dexterity, co-ordination and sensory skills for manipulation of echo probe involving long periods of concentration
  • Good computer skills, able to perform basic troubleshooting steps in case of malfunction of image acquisition, transfer & reporting systems
