2.0WTE Band 6 Diabetes Dietitian
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Diabetes Dietetic team at Guy's & St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. We are recruiting two full time permanent band 6 dietitians (2.0WTE).
Working as an integral member of a large multi disciplinary team, Diabetes is a great opportunity to build expertise in managing complex nutrition needs and to gain competencies as a diabetes educator, with support and guidance provided by the senior MDT.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be part of a team of 7 diabetes dietitians and will work closely with the MDT across diabetes inpatient services, the diabetes walk in centre at St Thomas', and outpatient clinics including community based clinics and diabetes structured education.The position is rotational with the second specialist diabetes dietitian within the team.
- To be a member of the dietetic team responsible for the dietetic management of patients who have diabetes requiring specialist input as part of the acute or intermediate diabetes team
- To gain competencies as a diabetes educator, which are relevant to your role, with support from the senior diabetes MDT.
- To be responsible as part of the team for providing a range of MDT specialist diabetes clinics across Guys & St Thomas' and our local communities of Southwark and Lambeth. This will require face to face attendance in the clinical setting.
- To support the diabetes dietitian team as required including working in rotation across acute and community sites. To visit core wards/clinics regularly to communicate and participate in MDT discussions and huddles.
- To deliver teaching and education to other HPs on diabetes in particular dietary management, this could be to other dietitians, nurses, medics and students.
