An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Cardiovascular Directorate for a full time position of Ward Sister / Charge Nurse on Stephen ward.

Stephen ward is a 33 bedded Cardiovascular ward, based on the St Thomas's Hospital site. The ward cares mainly for cardiology patients who have complex cardiac medical conditions, including Heart failure, Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Structural Heart (TAVI) service, Electrophysiology (EP), invasive and non-invasive cardiology, cardiac surgery.
You will be a confident, clinically competent, proactive and motivated individual and be able to demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills to your nursing team and wider multi-disciplinary colleagues. There is scope to further lead and develop the nursing team to ensure patients continue to receive the safest and best evidence based care.

Main duties of the job
The Ward Sister/Charge Nurse will have the skill and experience to provide a high standard of cardiac care at level 1 to acute cardiac patients and will have the knowledge of telemetry and cardiac monitoring to respond to all clinical situations. You will lead a large team of band 5 and 6 nurses and will have overall responsibility, together with the Practice Development Nurse, in developing the skills and knowledge of your team. You will work alongside your Matron in ensuring such standards in staff development as well as the overall environmental compliance, patient safety and satisfaction, as well as all elements to ward accreditation criteria.
